Meet Dr. Amador
A love for dentistry started at a very young age for Dr. Amador. Dr. Maria E. Amador graduated from high school with honors and went on to be in the top ten percent of her class in dental school receiving her Doctor in Dental Surgery from American University in Managua, Nicaragua. She completed a two-year post graduate General practice residency at Miami Valley Hospital, a level 1 Trauma center in Dayton, Ohio during which time she received extensive training in all dental specialties.
During her dental career she has served as a clinical lecturer in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry. She has volunteered many hours of service to Dental Mobile clinics USC in Los Angeles, California, Give Kids a Smile in Fall River Massachusetts, and many dental missions from the United States.
She is Dowson Academy-trained dentist as well as Progressive Ortodonthisc trained. Communication is key when providing patient care, and Dr. Amador can cater to multilingual audiences. She speaks English and Spanish fluently, plus has an intermediate level of Portuguese too! With an emphasis on trust and respect, she is committed to fostering lasting relationships that stand the test of time.
Dr. Amador was born in Nicaragua and moved to the United States at the tender age of 2 years old and was raised in Asheboro, North Carolina. Her love for dentistry has provided her with the challenge for a lifetime of learning. She is an active member of several dental associations ie., American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Tidewater Dental Association and the Hispanic Dental Association which have afforded her the opportunity to stay up to date in the latest innovations in dental technology and new techniques which she incorporates in her daily dental practice. She is certified in conscious sedation dentistry.
Dr. Amador is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese. She loves traveling, learning about different cultures and cuisines, reading, running, playing the violin, spending time with family and friends and playing with Dolce her Maltipoo.
